Why akkilles.
I fell in love with Achilles’ story because I saw its struggle everywhere in art: the pull to make the work, and the pull to be known for it.
I began making music as akkilles after moving to Kansas City around 2009, playing open mics and sharing songs online. Studying Greek brought me to his choice between the promise of glory and a quiet, fulfilled life.
Kleos, the promise of renown, gave a name to that tension. I saw how that thirst could overtake the act of creating, and how the wish to be known could give us a false sense of who we are. It was all around me, and in me too.
For me, akkilles holds that shared struggle: how to make work without losing ourselves in the desire to be known for it.

akkilles is my work as a songwriter and recording artist. I’m involved from the writing through the performances, arrangements, and production.
The music spans guitar-led songs, indie pop, ambient recordings, and collaborations beyond those boundaries. My own releases sit alongside a wider practice of making records with other artists through Aorist Audio.
My latest single, Like You, brings together my writing and production with performances by Jared Bond, Baird Williams, and Ian Thompson. Glimpse (What It Feels Like), with Rhea Silvia, takes that collaborative work into progressive house on Colorize.
